Business & Social Initiatives

This company is primarily an ethnic minority business platform based in the UK. Bridging Britain is a Pakistani brainchild enterprise with an aim to facilitate and support trade across ethnic boundaries (locally and internationally) as well as to bring people from across ethnic divides together through events, publications and alliances of cultural/social and economic interest.

The proposition is to identify untapped potential in UK ethnic segment through trade and business activities through structured products &services that bridge ethnic and mainstream markets (and people).

This company is the first of its kind professional platform with a unique business model which aims to empower businesses from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK – Pakistan, India, Srilanka, Bangladesh and West Africa.

The target market is those ethnic companies which do not have or have little access to research or the means and knowledge of strategy for the distribution of their products and services. Their growth is thus stymied and stunted because of the absence of the mentioned tools – the void of which is what we are aiming to fill.

The ultimate purpose of this initiative is to create sustainable, commercial, social and cultural bridge among ethnic minorities and Britain, and to enhance cohesion and integration in the country whose social landscape has over the decades become a truly multi-cultural one.

Bridging Britain’ is an enterprise of professionals from ethnic backgrounds, who have the will and background to gauge the potential and opportunity of ethnic minorities and guide them in a structured, productive and synergetic manner towards one single direction – “A truly productive multi-cultural Britain”.

Our human resource capability, to understand individual ethnic minority background, culture and environment equipped with a complementing and unique business model, makes Bridging Britain a catalyst of solutions for grassroots issues through business, media and social marketing.

Starting off as a traditional outdoor media company, GIZELLE Communications (GC) has earned the reputation of one of the top outdoor media companies in Pakistan. Over the years, creativity and innovation have become the hallmarks of GC. Industry stakeholders count GC as a reliable partner who not only delivers on what they require, but works with them to address the relevant communication needs for the brands.

GIZELLE, as the German word suggests, is a “promise” of two individuals who came from diverse corporate backgrounds and decided to apply their skills into an entrepreneurial venture. Khusro Ansari and Faraz Khan laid the foundation of GIZELLE Communications in 2004 with a commitment to not only grow the company, but to make a difference to the outdoor media industry in Pakistan. Once into it, they never looked back and to date, Gizelle continue to deliver the promise.

Such is evident from the fact that GC has designed and executed some of the largest & most creative outdoor campaigns in the country, and has made a massive difference in areas such as retail branding, traditional outdoor media, residential and transport media.

Synergizing outdoor media with CSR and community development is an achievement of GC, where the ethos of social responsibility is strategically linked with brand recall and mileage.

GC has also spearheaded the concept of public – private partnership in the media sector and developed programmes and processes, which has resulted into mega projects of global scale.

Strategic sites are chosen and developed in a manner that uplifts the beauty of the landscapes and simultaneously provides a creative communication medium to the private sector.

Projects such as the renovation of 2 & 3 Sword Roundabouts and the recently launched Jinnah International Airport Karachi are living examples of the marvels that bud as ideas in GC and then brought to life with passion, commitment and diligence.

The growing demand for innovative yet pragmatic Out of Home Advertising solutions has resulted in a gap as the major players (Advertising Agencies, Outdoor Media Companies & Sign Makers) are doing the best they can rather than what they should. That is where GC makes its space in the heart of the outdoor media industry of Pakistan.

With its team of hardworking and dedicated individuals, GC is geared to communicate & deliver the brand promise of its customers with 360-degree coverage to differentiate the clients’ identity in Out of Home Advertising spectrum.

The Civil Society Relay project is an inspiring new initiative in partnership with Euclid Network, Acevo UK & Stimulus Pakistan. The project aims to facilitate the connection of civil society leaders throughout the world. This will be done by providing an informal space for leaders of Civil Society Organizations to share experiences on the formation and running of leader’s associations, as a means to create a more structured and organized third sector.

Leader associations provide civil society organizations assistance with: Governance, membership and democratic structures.Business development and intellectual property.Communication, advocacy and lobbying.Practical issues such as developing an effective website, membership database, and financial procedures. They are also a source of professional development programmes, peer reviews and leadership training. Because of this, the project aims to connect leaders of civil society organisations, and to generate guidance on forming your own leaders associations in your own countries. These local associations will be supportive of one another and provide great opportunities for the cross-border sharing of good-practice. In the current global economic situation, cooperation has never been more important. The ‘Relay’ project takes its name from the famous athletic baton race. It is essential that non-profit organisation leaders work as a team. They must pass on wisdom, advice and learning. Most of all, they should have their eyes on efficiency and success, the qualities of any winning team.

www.floods.pk aims to accumulate, organise and illustrate relief work currently undertaken in Pakistan by private and public sector organisations, educational institutions and not-for-profit entities. The devastation caused by the floods has resulted in a massive influx of funds from individuals and organisations from across Pakistan and the world; and we intend to provide a centralized portal that will keep track of the money trail. Historically, an oft-repeated refrain raised in such scenarios is that of transparency and accountability of funds that are raised for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. From international donor agencies to those making one-off contributions, everyone asks the question: are these funds reaching those who need it the most?

When the floods hit, most of us were unsure where to donate and who to trust. This resulted in fragmented and sporadic relief efforts with diluted impact. Scarcity of information further compromised the efficacy of these efforts.

The purpose of this portal is to maximize the impact of the entire gamut of relief work. By consolidating the information of all monetary and non-monetary contributions, we can guesstimate how much has been contributed to relief efforts so far and how much more is required. After the immediate response to ensure protection and survival of the 20 million people affected by the floods, we – as a nation – need to take measured steps for their rehabilitation and reconstruction – one community at a time. Equipped with the right information at the right time, we can together make the right decision on when, where, what, how and howmuch to contribute.
